Australia is a mostly flat and very hot country. Most people live near the coast where you can find more vegetation and even rainforests.
I was instantly amazed by the bright red sand and rocks that can be found in most places of the world's largest island. And I loved the contrast of this colour to the green bushes and trees. It was important to me to include that in the painting. So I chose to paint a view of this milky, almost pink lake in Rainbow Valley in central Australia, and I’m very happy with how it turned out.
