Azerbaijan is very mountainous, and some eastern parts of the country are very dry.
I learned that Azerbaijan has hundreds of mud volcanoes and I thought it would be a fun challenge for me to paint them.
While I was painting the first layer I thought it would look interesting to use some ashes and charcoal. It gave the painting an interesting texture; and I think it makes the mud look more real.
